For That Special History of The Walt Disney Studio Films Collector! You Are Bidding On Seven Black & White Publicity Photographs of Walt Disney’s 1955 Film LADY And The TRAMP Released On June 16, 1955, Close To 70 Years Ago! These Seven B&W 8” x 10” Publicity Photographs are each marked WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS and Technicolor Released By Buena Vista Distribution Co., Inc. Lady And The Tramp was the 15th Animated Feature for the Walt Disney Studios and the first animated feature filmed using the CinemaScope Widescreen process. The film opens on a panoramic view of a quaint New England town in the early part of the century during snowfall. Darling (the human heroine) opens her Christmas package to find a female puppy inside, a gift from her husband Jim Dear. They name her Lady. The story is told from a dog’s-eye view, the humans are never really shown in much detail, although they figure prominently in key sequences. Lady lives in an exclusive section of town with her canine friends Jock (a Scottish terrier) and Trusty (a Bloodhound) on the same block. When they chance to encounter a dog from the wrong side of the tracks named Tramp, they treat him with disdain. Most of the film’s best sequences are built around songs, and the film’s score is particularly delightful, as written by Peggy Lee & Sonny Burke. When Tramp takes Lady to dinner at the back door of the Italian restaurant, the owner, Tony, and his cook, Joe, do their best to make it a special occasion. After serving a meal of spaghetti and meat balls, they serenade the canine couple with a love song, “Bella Notte,” while playing the accordion and violin. During the song Lady and Tramp nibble at the same strand of spaghetti, bringing their lips together in a kiss. Lady And The Tramp was named number 95 of the “100 Greatest Love Stories Of All Time” by the American Film Institute in their 100 years! There is also humor in the singing of the song by 2 Siamese Cats, Si and Am, which begins, “We are Siamese if you please / We are Siamese if you don’t please . . .” The coyness of the two slithery cats in this song makes the scene a delight to watch. Lady And The Tramp was truly a charming film that movie critics reacted with mostly negative reviews. Once again, however, the viewing public loved it . . . and made the film a substantial hit for the Disney Studios! If you collect DISNEYANA, or if you love Disney historical items, then these The Walt Disney Productions Black & White Publicity Photographs should be high on your list! We are willing to work on the price for this item, therefore we have listed it as a BUY-IT-NOW item, and you also have the opportunity to MAKE-AN-OFFER!
